Overview

Free courses in the order a DevOps engineer actually needs them: the Linux command line, Git, Docker containers, Kubernetes, SQL, and Python for automation. Every lesson runs in your browser, nothing to install, and each course ends with a free certificate.

Syllabus

  1. Learn Linux and the Command Line — Navigate the filesystem, manage files and permissions, chain commands with pipes, read logs, write your first bash scripts. Everything after this step happens in a terminal, so this is where the path begins.
  2. Learn Git & Version Control — Commits, branches, merging, resolving conflicts, remotes, and undoing mistakes safely. Every deployment pipeline starts from a Git repository, and every incident review ends in its history.
  3. Learn Docker & Containers — Images, containers, Dockerfiles, volumes and container networking, practised hands-on. Containers are how modern software is packaged and shipped, and the unit Kubernetes and every cloud platform work with.
  4. Learn Kubernetes & kubectl — Pods, YAML manifests, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps and Secrets, driven with kubectl against a simulated cluster: scale an app, roll out a new version, roll it back, and debug a Pod stuck in CrashLoopBackOff. Kubernetes is where most teams run the containers the previous step taught you to build.
  5. Learn SQL — Query, filter, join and aggregate real tables. DevOps work means backing up, migrating and debugging databases, and reading the queries a slow service is running.
  6. Learn Python — The scripting language of DevOps: file and text processing, working with APIs and JSON, and turning a twenty-command runbook into one script. Prefer Go? The Go course is a fine substitute for this step.
