The Wonderful World of Low-Carbon Concrete

I found Professor Hong Wong’s talk both insightful and thought provoking. He clearly outlined how concrete contributes to global CO2 emissions especially through the production of clinker and shared some exciting innovations aimed at reducing that impact

What was bugging my mind the most while i was watching the video was I liked the part where mineralization was mentioned, but I wonder what if cement plants integrated microalgae-based CO2 capture or partnered with direct air capture startups? It might sound ambitious, but it's where things are heading.

Also, While Portland cement is still dominant, it would’ve been great to hear more about geopolymers or alkali-activated materials. They're not always practical yet, but in niche applications they might completely bypass the need for clinker altogether.

Overall it was perfect.
