From my perspective as a Nursery Manager in the UAE, understanding toxic stress is essential for ensuring holistic early childhood development. Children who experience prolonged stress without supportive adult relationships may show delays in emotional regulation, learning, and social interaction. Early years settings therefore must prioritise nurturing environments, strong safeguarding practices, and close partnerships with families. When practitioners remain observant, responsive, and proactive in early identification, they can significantly reduce the long-term impact of stress and help children develop resilience, confidence, and a secure foundation for future learning and wellbeing.
