How to Install a MRCOOL Mini-Split Air Conditioner

When installing split air conditioning systems, both nitrogen pressure testing and vacuuming are mandatory – and not just recommended, but also required by standards and manufacturer specifications.

Nitrogen pressure test
Fill the system with dry nitrogen to a pressure of approx. 30–40 bar.
Monitor for at least 30 minutes to ensure that the pressure does not drop.
If there are no leaks → proceed to vacuuming.
If there are leaks → redo the connections.

Vacuuming
Use a vacuum pump to evacuate the system to approximately -1 bar, below 500 microns (~0.67 mbar).
The vacuum must be maintained for at least 20–30 minutes (depending on the size of the system).
Use a vacuum gauge to check that no air is leaking back in → if so, recheck with nitrogen.

Some air and moisture always remain in the pipe system.
A vacuum of around -1 bar (approx. 500 microns, ~0.67 mbar) must be created using a vacuum pump.
This removes moisture and oxygen, otherwise:
an acidic medium will form, which will destroy the compressor, cooling performance will deteriorate, and the warranty may be voided.
