This was a great lesson! It tackled the idea of connecting with students and their learning through a more interactive, collaborative, and dynamic approach to critical thinking via a visual medium. I would love to adapt this unit approach with American History and Literature as well. Seeing images of what happened during a period of history and written literature (poems, short stories, fiction or non-fiction pieces) were created in a visual format could provide students with context clues behind significance of texts and art and later influences of such (like video games). Ms. O’neill’s strategy to even get a group of adults to replicate the classroom environment was inspirational. Would be definitely trying this out!
