This conference talk provides an overview of micro- and nano-focusing hard X-ray optics, with special emphasis on Multilayer Laue Lenses (MLL). Explore the various types of focusing optics available for hard X-rays, comparing their capabilities from sub-millimeter to sub-10 nm focusing ranges. Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of different optical schemes regarding photon energy range, efficiency, achievable focus size, working distance, and the complexity of fabrication and implementation in experimental setups. The presentation delves deeply into the fabrication, characterization, and application of Multilayer Laue Lenses with long working distances. Recorded during the thematic meeting "Foliations, birational geometry and applications" on February 10, 2025, at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques in Marseille, France. The video includes chapter markers and keywords for selective viewing, and is part of CIRM's Audiovisual Mathematics Library which features enriched content with abstracts, bibliographies, and Mathematics Subject Classification.
