This special seminar explores the search for QCD axions as dark matter candidates, presented by Lyman Page from Princeton University. Discover the motivation behind axions as potential dark matter and learn about the progress of PXS (Princeton Axion Search), which complements the pioneering ADMX experiment by targeting the mass range of 0.8 to 2.1 ueV. Understand how this "table top" experiment utilizes a large bore conduction cooled magnet from PPPL to produce the magnetic field, along with a traveling wave parametric amplifier developed by JPL to read out the sub-100 mK microwave resonator immersed in the magnetic field. Follow the development of this experiment based on Sikivie's holoscope concept, with many subsystems currently under testing.
