Highlights for me: Unikraft’s “per-app VM” angle makes the minimalist promise feel real; Talos’ API-driven nodes are a clean fit for Kubernetes; Flatcar’s work with systemd-sysext shows how to extend without image sprawl; Kairos keeps the edge in focus and meets teams where they already are. The WASM discussion is refreshingly pragmatic—expect integration into existing OS lines, not a brand-new OS zoo. Less satisfying: there aren’t many hard numbers on security or day-2 operations, and migration between OSes remains more aspiration than recipe.
