Regenerative Agriculture at The University of Tennessee - Sustainable Farming Practices and Soil Health

I am writing to you from Ethiopia working as a regenerative agriculture advisor. I learnt a lot from the presenter and very happy to apply to Ethiopian context. The importance of soil health as heart of Regenerative practices and other complementary agricultural practices including livestock integration, grazing management, forage types, year round living roots importance for soil health, microbial biodiversity because of its exudates. I also learnt the direct relationship between soil microbial biodiversity and relationship with soil health, agricultural productivity, and overall agroecosystem resilience and climate shocks at large. I have also learnt about Carbon credit, carbon financing and Carbon sequestrations and its importance. The importance of Biochar, climate smart agriculture concepts, and how the Regenerative Agriculture principles should aligned with the local contexts. I also learnt that, premium market price as driving force for sustainability of RA practices and RA produces. The role of government in developing regulations and polices, role of privates, and other partners. I also learnt that their is no blanket recommendation for all agroecologies when we are planning to practice Regenerative Agriculture. I also conclude that, participatory action research and farmers ownership and engagement to sustainability of RA practices as very important. These are some of my observations during the online course.
