Early detection and intervention play a critical role in improving mental health outcomes. Identifying symptoms of conditions such as depression, anxiety, or psychosis at an early stage allows individuals to receive timely support before problems become severe. Early intervention can reduce the intensity and duration of symptoms, lower the risk of complications, and improve long-term recovery rates. It also helps decrease stigma, strengthens coping skills, and supports families in understanding and managing challenges. Overall, proactive mental health screening and prompt treatment contribute to better quality of life, academic and work performance, and overall well-being.

After the class I was able to understand how important it is to take mental health seriously.
The class also helps to understand that people often don't want to talk about what they going through because of the stigma that usually comes with mental health disorders. I would recommend the course to everyone to help people understand how important mental health is, mostly young people in the society.

This course was loaded and so engaging. It's an eyes opening to forefront of a critical revolution in psychiatric care: the early detection and intervention for psychosis. Their work, particularly through clinics like the prodrome research program, is changing outcomes dramatically. By identifying individuals showing early, subtle signs such as social withdrawal or unusual thoughts before a first full psychotic break, they can intervene with supported education, low-dose medication, and family therapy.

Good explanation moving from a background explanation of what psychosis is, it symptoms, suggestion on how to promote early intervention and diagnosis and also models that can help in the treatment of mental illness. More enlightenment to reduce mental health stigmatization
  • This course was very engaging. I strongly believe that in 2024, mental illness should no longer be a taboo subject. We should all feel free to speak openly about it without fear of judgment or being labeled as 'crazy.' Thank you for emphasizing that mental health is a serious matter and for creating an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and eager to learn more.
