This conference talk explores the evolution of Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A) Long Term Support (LTS), which provides an open-source reference implementation of secure software for Armv8-A and Armv9-A processors. Learn how TF-A serves as the preferred implementation of Arm A-class CPU specifications, enabling efficient porting to modern chips and platforms while forming the foundation for Trusted Execution Environments on application processors. Discover the journey of TF-A LTS from its proposal in July 2022 to its first release in February 2023 based on TF-A v2.8, with details on the alignment process for major release branches. The presentation covers LTS branches, processes, release procedures, and automation improvements across the first two major LTS releases in 2023 and 2024. Gain insights into recommended usage practices and challenges in maintaining LTS branches, while understanding how TF-A LTS benefits partners requiring extended support for products with lifecycles now reaching up to 7 years. This talk also serves as an invitation for interested partners to join and support TF-A LTS maintenance efforts, contributing to the broader Arm ecosystem.
