This lecture is the first in a series on String Theory 2, focusing specifically on Fermionic strings, delivered by Ashoke Sen at the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences. Learn about the foundations of supersymmetric string theories in this 1 hour 45 minute session that kicks off the PHY453.5 topical course. The complete course covers Free Heterotic String, Free Type II and Type I Superstring theories, interactions, picture changing operators, and amplitude computations. Designed for advanced physics students with prior knowledge in Quantum Field Theory, General Relativity, and String Theory 1, this lecture begins the journey toward computing the spectrum and interactions in supersymmetric string theories. The course runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM starting January 21, 2025, at the Emmy Noether Seminar Room.
