How to Make Handmade Pottery Urns

This course follows a batch of six handmade urns from throwing and trimming through glazing and cone ten reduction firing. It also demonstrates finishing the bases and grinding the lids for a smooth fit.

- Preparing the urns for a biscuit firing to 1000ºC
- Waxing the lids, bases & lips
- Glazing the urns
- Cleaning up the glazed surfaces
- Wadding the lids atop the bodies
- Loading the gas kiln & reduction firing it to cone ten, 1290ºC
- Unpacking the kiln
- Scraping clean their bases & grinding the lids
- The finished urns
