This presentation provides an overview of the Modular Host Server (MHS) Plug-and-Play workstream within the Open Compute Project, delivered by Todd Rosedahl from Jabil and Kasper Wszolek from Intel Corporation. Discover how the DC-MHS modularity initiative is advancing toward a future where Host Processor Modules and peripheral subsystems can be more rapidly sourced, interoperated, and integrated into systems with minimal changes to hardware, programmable logic, system firmware, BMC FW, and BIOS. Learn about the MHS Plug-and-Play (PnP) problem space and get updates on OCP-endorsed design collaterals known as Modular-Plug-n-Play (M-PnP), which aim to accelerate development cycles, address firmware interoperability challenges, and promote sustainability and economic benefits through modular system reuse. The presentation also covers significant updates in the MHS PnP v0.5 specification release, which provides critical refinements and a more focused specification direction for solving firmware interoperability issues.
