Breathing Easy: Understanding and Managing Asthma in Adults

I was able to understand the introduction, pathophysiology, phenotypes, clinical features, basic history, risk factors, conditions that mimic asthma, basic management of mild, moderate and severe asthma, investigations like pulmonary function tests, cbc, blood or skin test for IgE, spirometry. Basic history should include birth history, environmental factors, history of sinus disease, family history, medications among others. Conditions like autoimmune disease, copd, sarcoidosis, heart failure, ALS or myasthenia gravis among others all mimic asthma. Two phenotypes that's th2 or non th2 are present. Based on onset, it can be child hood asthma or asthma of childhood onset. Asthma of childhood onset basically is usually the allergic type. Signs and symptoms include cough, difficty in breathing, wheezing among others. However, differentiating adulthood asthma from copd is by the fact that asthma is characterised by reversible bronchostriction. Management involves bronchodilators, steroids , spacers , oxygen therapy
