I recently took Shomu’s Biology biotechnology courses, and they turned out to be very helpful in strengthening my concepts. The course was amazing for the beginner students to understand the concept of Recombinant DNA Technology . In this course I understood the concept of DNA Recombinant technology from the bacterial plasmids, its different parts and specially about Restriction sites and restriction enzymes. AND in this way formation of Recombinant DNA. Marker assisted selection, which uses modern genetics to prepare more resistant crops. then DNA IS CHECKED ON GEL ELECTROPHORESIS. Then I understood the concept of GMO crop making from the DNA extraction, making and designing genes . finally transferring into plant and back cross to enter it into the more yielding crops. Then I understood how scientist confirm that gene of interest is is transferred or not with Taqman PCR, which is real-time and not only confirm transgene presence but also provide quantitative value because of probe (provide fluorescence).
