Learn essential American Sign Language vocabulary and phrases specifically designed for families with deaf children in this 13-minute instructional video. Practice signing common questions and statements that parents and caregivers frequently use when caring for young deaf children, including inquiries about temperature comfort, diaper changes, bath time, and basic needs. Master practical vocabulary such as "change," "cracker," "cry," "diaper," "dirty," "hot," "cold," "like," "please," "thank you," and "water" through guided practice sessions. Work through question formations like "Are you cold?" (YOU COLD YOU?) and "Where are the diapers?" (DIAPER WHERE?) as well as declarative statements such as "You need your diaper changed" (YOU NEED DIAPER CHANGE) and "The bath water is cold!" (BATH WATER COLD!). Benefit from instruction by Dr. Bill Vicars, an experienced ASL educator with over 30 years of teaching experience and former coordinator of the American Sign Language and Deaf Studies program at Sacramento State University, alongside student assistant Marly.
