Theory of Machines is a fundamental technical course for mechanical engineering programs. It covers the basic theories and principles of mechanism design, kinematics, and dynamics of mechanical systems.
The course was established with the launch of the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing program when Xihua University was founded in 1960. It has long been recognized as a university-level exemplary course at Xihua University. In 2008, it was approved as a Sichuan Provincial High-Quality Course, and in 2012, it was further recognized as a Sichuan Provincial High-Quality Resource-Sharing Course for Higher Education Institutions.
In recent years, to meet the requirements of international recognition of engineering education, the course has undergone a series of reforms and developments in its teaching system, course content, and instructional methods. A new course syllabus has been developed, and multimedia CAI courseware and an electronic lesson preparation system covering the entire teaching process have been designed and implemented. Meanwhile, the construction of experimental teaching has been strengthened. These efforts have significantly improved the overall quality and effectiveness of course delivery, contributing substantially to the enhancement of teaching outcomes.
