Plants provide humans with food, and fertilizer is the food for plants. The nutrient content and quality of plants and fertilizers are closely related to human health. The "Analysis of Plants and Fertilizers" course is precisely about how to analyze and test the nutrient content and quality of plants and fertilizers. It is a course with strong theoretical and practicality. The "Analysis of Plants and Fertilizers" course at Shenyang Agricultural University is a core and main course for the Agricultural Resources and Environment major. The course team consists of 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 3 lecturers, and 1 experimental assistant teacher. The main course content includes: determination of constant elements and trace elements in plants, measurement of plant moisture and ash content. The "Analysis of Plants and Fertilizers" course has been offered since 1952 when the original Soil and Agricultural Chemistry major at Shenyang Agricultural University was established. "Agricultural Chemical Analysis" was rated as a provincial-level excellent course in 2004, renamed "Analysis of Plants and Fertilizers" in 2014, and was rated as a first-class course at Shenyang Agricultural University in 2017, and was rated as a core main course (excellent course) at Shenyang Agricultural University in 2018, and was recognized as an online first-class undergraduate course project in Shenyang Agricultural University in 2020. "Analysis of Plants and Fertilizers" is one of the core specialized courses for the Agricultural Resources and Environment major, and is a comprehensive, practical, and application-oriented course. This course guides students to use basic principles of chemical analysis and special methods of agricultural analysis to analyze and test samples of fertilizers and plants, and to provide reasonable evaluations of the nutrient and quality status of plants and fertilizers. This course mainly cultivates students' experimental operation skills, scientific research abilities, and the spirit of being practical and realistic, and comprehensively improves students' independent operation ability, comprehensive experimental skill literacy, and innovation ability. Through the study of this course, students can be competent in analysis and testing work in the related fields of agricultural resources and environment, and can also lay a solid foundation for future scientific research. This course conforms to the school's "cultivating innovative and practical application-oriented talents" educational positioning and the professional cultivation requirements of "thick foundation, wide scope, high quality, specialized and versatile" for the major.
