Fundamentals of Product Form Design is a foundational course for undergraduate students majoring in industrial design and product design. The course goes beyond the external appearance of products to explore both form (physical shape) and expression (conceptual and cultural meaning), examining product design from the perspective of product morphology.
Core topics include the concepts and classifications of product form, the relationship between product form and users, the interplay between form and function, fundamental methods of product form design, and the connections between form and other design elements such as structure, color, and materials.
Through analysis and practical exercises involving a wide range of products, the course develops students’ abilities in observation, analysis, evaluation, and fundamental product form design.
