Introduction to Carbon Emission Reduction Management is a systematic course built around four core questions: Why reduce emissions? Where do they come from? How to manage them? What are the impacts? The course covers the scientific basis of climate change, accounting theories of carbon emissions from production and consumption perspectives, policy instruments such as administrative measures and market-based mechanisms, as well as mitigation technologies including renewable energy, energy efficiency improvement, and carbon capture, utilization and storage. It further examines the socio-economic impacts of emission reduction and the pathways toward carbon neutrality. The course not only helps learners build a comprehensive knowledge system and systematic thinking, but also enhances their ability to address real-world problems through case studies and digital resources, supporting both academic research and career development.
