Traditional Chinese medicine, originating from ancient China, is a science that studies human life, health, and diseases. It holds a very important position in traditional medicine worldwide and has made outstanding contributions to promoting the development of human health. Traditional Chinese medicine is a medical theoretical system characterized by a holistic concept as the dominant ideology, the visceral meridians as the theoretical core, and the diagnosis and treatment based on syndrome differentiation. The basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine embodies the basic academic ideas and theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine. It is a course about the basic theories, knowledge, and thinking methods of traditional Chinese medicine. It is the first main course and professional basic course of traditional Chinese medicine. It is not only suitable for fellow students of traditional Chinese medicine, but also for the learning of Chinese medicine enthusiasts.

In order to make abstract theories intuitive and visualized, this course has organized and arranged the content of the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine course. The course content mainly includes: the formation and development of basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine; The worldview and methodology of traditional Chinese medicine (holistic concept, syndrome differentiation and treatment, and the five elements of yin and yang); Traditional Chinese Medicine's understanding of the normal human body (essence, qi, blood, body fluids, visceral manifestation, meridians, and constitution); Traditional Chinese Medicine's understanding of diseases (onset, etiology, and pathogenesis); The basic methods and principles of TCM cognition and intervention in the human body (health preservation and prevention and treatment). This course is easy to understand, concise and clear, with the aim of enabling learners to establish a basic way of thinking in traditional Chinese medicine through learning, laying a solid foundation for continuing their studies of traditional Chinese medicine diagnostics, traditional Chinese medicine, prescription studies, and clinical disciplines.
