Introduction to Business is a compulsory core professional course with 2 credits and 32 class hours offered for Business English majors. Adopting An Introductory English Course to Business published by Tsinghua University Press as the main textbook, the course is supplemented with bilingual learning resources related to business introduction and delivered entirely in English. It integrates business theoretical study, English language application and workplace task practice, enabling students to gain a holistic understanding of the basic logic behind corporate operation and modern business activities.
The course consists of five modules. The first module is Basic Business Cognition, covering business environment, entrepreneurship, business opportunity identification, enterprise establishment and organizational structure. The second module is Enterprise Operation and Management, focusing on employee recruitment and training, staff motivation, corporate culture, as well as production and product management. The third module is Marketing and Products, including market segmentation, target positioning, the 4P/7P marketing mix, new product development and promotion. The fourth module covers Financial Management and Financing, where students will learn to interpret financial statements, master corporate financing channels, capital management and risk prevention and control. The fifth module is International Business and Corporate Social Responsibility, involving market entry modes, e-commerce, transnational operation and corporate social responsibility.
