An Integrated English Course is a compulsory basic course for sophomores of English major. This course aims to cultivate students’ linguistic competence and to train students’ English comprehensive skills by reading and analyzing language materials of different styles. Moreover, this course fully exploits ideological and political elements in the teaching materials, combining the goals of moral education and the objectives of the language teaching together. Various learning strategies are provided in this course, which are helpful for forging students’ learning styles and for grasping various learning methods, so as to lay a solid foundation for entering the senior level.

The teaching design of this course is based on the theory of OBE education, it adopts various classroom activities which fully mobilize students’ learning enthusiasm, improve students’ participation, and improve students’ language proficiency. It provides a chance to fully display students’ understanding of ideological and political core values.

This course covers 6 units which include 54 sections with a rich diversity of topics. The content covers the lead-in activities, the new words learning, the structure of the text, the thematic analysis, the learning of writing techniques, the appreciation of the text and so on.

The teaching team possesses 6 experienced teachers including 3 associate professors. The team members are making every effort to construct this course for English learners. We hope every English learner can improve the language proficiency, broaden the horizons and harvest the life lesson as well during the process of learning.
