Understanding IELTS: Reading

This course is very much to the point and it 's easy to understand. If I had found it before my last test I don't think I would have failed,anyhow , I am going to upgrade each subject in this course and get myself well prepared before taking Ielts exam again.Eventhough it is costly I will try to pay for it because good thing doen't come easy. Also let me used this opportunity to thank all my Mentors in this Featurelearn courses.Thank you. Now that I learn how to skim and scan a text ,I will no more waste time reading the whole test . Another important thing is that I must first read the questions and know what the question is asking before going to find the answer in the test .I have also learn that when doing True ,False,Not Given question ;True is the fact in the text while False is the opposite of the fact in the test and Not Given is when such information not mention in the text at all. For sentence completion you must use the exact word as found in the text and if two words are needed to complete the sentence then use two words ,make sure you understand what is asked.Multiple anwers are a bit confusing and require scaning through the test to look for the right answers. Another very important point is that in reading the text very often we come across words we don't know their meaning, we must not spend so much time trying to figure out the meaning but should continue to read on because we understand the meaning of the sentence even without knowing that word.Often time those words are just there to scare the reader and may not so much contribute to the meaning of the text.Remember the text is just a field for you to pick the answers not to spend so much time reading it.Paraphrasing is another thing you must look for in Ielts reading because the words in the questions will be different but with the same meaning e.g :John discovered a route to the town' ,may become:'John found the way to the town'.

I must say that this course is the best IELTS preparation program, I have ever come across. Before, joining this course, I attended face to face classes in my own country from the best institutions offering IELTS preparation. However, as compared to this, they were waste of money and time. I have also explored some online materials and registered at some other website but their course offering was very limited and they try to make people buy their programs such as Executive or VIP programs on a very high price. Whereas, here I got the opportunity to learns so many techniques & skills that improved my knowledge a lot without having to pay even a single penny. Also, the class participation designed by the Educators was also invaluable feature of this course. By this I found few learners who are well literate, have great command of language and always share great techniques.

All in all, I don't have enough words to regard this course but in brief I would like to comment that if you want to enroll in a course where you want to benefit not only with the best IELTS preparation but also improve your overall language command, this course is for you.

Like I heard the Lead Course Educator, Mr. David say at the end, I'd also like to share his views by saying that it is indeed a shame that 'the Course has come to an end'. I feel sad that when I was a student, I didn't know of any such courses conducted by the BBC. Even when I started working as an English Teacher, if I had known about the IELTS Courses, I would have tried to enroll myself in some of these courses to be more confident, more assured of my English. Unfortunately, my days are almost gone. But for young learners the world over, aspiring to go overseas for their careers, the IELTS courses are a must-have.
The educators were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I enjoyed learning from them even after my retirement. I learnt what I was lacking in in a skill as important as Reading by adhering to their advice and guidance.
All in all, I learnt about the importance of Reading by undergoing this course through FutureLearn and learning with BBC has been fun.

I spent 100 usd for learning about IELTS test from a British Council approved coaching center Lexicon (Sajib Brother) in Khulna, Bangladesh.

There I didn't learn any necessary thing. We just appeared at the practice test everyday and someday just talked in English. No necessary tips or tricks learnt from there for IELTS. I remember I learnt only few correct pronunciations. You can say it as a spoken English coaching center more than a IELTS coaching center. Yes there was spoken English course with cheaper rate with same type of curriculum.

But In this Corono lockdown time, I found this course free and I am really surprised to learn the tips and tricks and interactive communications. I think this course is really the best course. I am just feeling it right now that what I spent for the Lexicon coaching is totally useless. I could appeared in cheaper mock tests to learn such type of things what I learnt there. So I will suggest everyone to not spend money like me. You can find huge amount of free resources from the internet and obviously from the British Council websites. Which can make you the perfect candidate for the IELTS.

Hello everyone! I do recommend to take this course, because I really enjoyed it. There are a lot of tips, strategies, advice, useful resources and helpful practice materials on it. They are all supplied by the well-experienced educators. Also I enjoyed reading other learners` interesting comments which help to get various kind of information on different topics. We discuss someone`s issue on any task type and try to solve it together. The many say "A soldier is not a hero in a war" which means people can solve any problem if they get together. Tell the truth, it really helps when one has difficulties or hesitations on anything. The educators` role is also valuable here. Because they always try to help and answer our questions clearly as soon as possible. Although I have one more week on this course, I learned a lot and I hope on the third week I will learn more than now. So, I would like you to take this course as soon as you read this review. I have to say, I am really enjoying the course, it contains a lot of helpful tips and startegies that helps you to succeed the islets reading test. Scanning, skimming, dealing with vocabulary and practicing sample questions are very good teaching strategies. Also, the interaction of the intructors to the answers given is extraordinary. Let's not forget how imporatnt the videos are; those videos that sum up what you studied, and gives tips to reinforce the ideas and keep them stuck to your mind. I really liked the do and don't section, it has been helpful to sum up also just like the videos. One more thing is the websites and links provided to enhance reading.
I missed first the live video but hopefully I won't miss the second. I am really glad I registered in this course and I thankl all the instructors and the founders of this website which allowed me to try this opportunity.

Especially ILTS three courses are excellent and very helpful to ILTS aspirants. Unfortunately I have no chance to appear for this exam, because I am 52 Years old. I have learned here reading, writing, and listening skills abundantly. In reading session I learned about True Or False, fill up the blanks, short question and answers , yes or no answers. these are helpful for teaching effectively to the students.

Through this course I hope to teach my children effectively better than earlier.

I want to talk a little bit about my learning experience before and after I had started this course till where I am now.

Earlier this year, I had an initiative of sitting for the IELTS because I view it as an opportunity to apply for a postgraduate program and a possible scholarship.I talked to a friend who sent me an IELTS book.I started preparing using the manual,read magazines,newspapers in English etc… Despite that effort time management and especially the reading part were my man challenges.

While looking for solutions I come across an advertising website and found an announcement saying that I can learn the IELTS course for free I started.

Honestly speaking I learnt a lot to cite a few the different IELTS(academic and general) from reading techniques(skimming and scanning),time management,ressources for articles,etc… .

In brief ,I am confident now and grateful for this course

I had learnt a lot, it was very nice and effective course. I had also learnt new words, new vocabulary and different new techniques for example scanning, skimming, heading matching , sentence completion, fill in the blanks , true false , yes no tag and foreign words and contextual clues and such like more things. I had also done diploma TEFL from Allama Iqbal open university in Pakistan which is an international University in that course I also learnt about the technique which was used for recognising the foreign words and their the foreign words had used and how to recognise them and how to get the meaning and now again I learnt a different techniques for foreign words. This course was really amazing and it was very effective for me and specially I thank you very much for this course and appeal to you that please give me a certificate of achievement thanks.

I did learn alot about IELTS READING, got some tips about ielts reading, interacted with different participants on the coursre that helped me to develop some colaborative learning skills. The course also helped me know what ielts reading is all about, the different types of ielts reading tasks, how to tackle them, what should be done to obtain a high score and what i should do and not do. It was an opportunity for me widen or broaden my scope in reading, learning new vocabulary, how to learn them, how to paraphrase and also how to look for general or specific information in the text. Skimming and scanning where very important tools i used to reading texts and they helped me a lot. I hope i will try to use what i have learnt here in the future..

I am taking the IELTS Reading course. Right now, I am finishing the second week, I still have one more. I have been learning interesting, useful and enriching information throughout the course. The videos where the mentors take part are a great learning opportunity as well as a nice chance to have a closer, more human-like contact. It is also very productive to read the other participants' answers and comments.
Another feature I like very much is that we can access the website whenever it is convenient for us. We do not have to follow a rigid schedule. In addition, the platform is absolutely friendly.
