Overview
Organizations of all sizes are embracing the power and flexibility of the cloud to transform how they operate. However, managing and scaling cloud resources effectively can be a complex task. This course explores the fundamental concepts of modern operations, reliability, and resilience in the cloud, and how Google Cloud can help support these efforts.
As part of the Cloud Digital Leader learning path, this course aims to help individuals grow in their role and build the future of their business.
Syllabus
- Financial governance and managing cloud costs
- Managing cloud costs requires a shift from traditional hardware ownership to a flexible consumption model. This module investigates the transition from capital expenditure (CapEx) to operating expenditure (OpEx), the use of the Google Cloud resource hierarchy for access control, and the tools used to provide financial visibility and prevent budget overruns.
- Operational excellence and reliability at scale
- Building for scale involves balancing the need for rapid innovation with the requirement for rock-solid stability. This module investigates DevOps and site reliability engineering (SRE) frameworks, the "four golden signals" of monitoring, and the use of infrastructure strategies like redundancy and autoscaling to maintain high availability and resilience.
- Course summary
- The course closes with a summary of the key points covered in each section and the next steps to continue learning.
