What you'll learn:
- Identify limiting and self-defeating beliefs that may be influencing your choices, confidence, and behavior
- Understand how thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors interact using a cognitive-behavioral framework
- Recognize cognitive biases that can distort the way you interpret yourself, other people, and your circumstances
- Distinguish between the problem you think you have and the underlying issue you may actually need to address
- Structure problems and goals more clearly so you can focus your efforts on what genuinely needs to change
- Examine assumptions about happiness, success, and achievement that may be guiding your decisions without you realizing it
- Understand how procrastination can function as a response to emotional discomfort rather than simply a lack of discipline
- Recognize victim mindsets, locus-of-control patterns, and other ways of thinking that can reduce your sense of agency
- Identify self-deception and cognitive dissonance that can make it difficult to recognize your own unhelpful patterns
- Develop greater self-awareness and take a more deliberate, self-directed approach to your personal and professional growth
What if the thing keeping you stuck isn't simply a lack of motivation?
You may know what you want and still procrastinate. You may repeatedly set goals but struggle to follow through. You may blame circumstances, doubt your abilities, stay in situations that no longer serve you, or keep repeating behaviors you already know aren't helping.
Sometimes the obstacle isn't a missing productivity technique. It is the belief, assumption, interpretation, or mental pattern underneath the behavior.
This focused course is designed to help you identify and understand those patterns.
Before trying to change your entire life, we will examine how you currently make sense of it: how your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, biases, and behaviors interact, and how some of those processes may quietly limit the choices you believe are available to you.
You'll begin with a cognitive-behavioral framework for understanding the relationship between what you think, what you feel, and what you do. From there, you'll explore:
Cognitive biases and how they influence perception
Self-defeating and limiting beliefs
How to distinguish symptoms from the underlying problem
Ways of structuring problems and goals more clearly
Your assumptions about happiness and success
The person you believe you could become
Self-direction and the barriers that prevent you from pursuing what you want
The emotional dynamics behind procrastination
Victim and opportunity-oriented mindsets
Locus of control and your perception of personal agency
Misplaced worry and attention
Cognitive dissonance and self-deception
Behavioral influences on motivation and decision-making
A key theme throughout the course is self-awareness. We are not always conscious of the beliefs driving our decisions. Some were learned years ago. Others developed through repeated experiences, social expectations, fear, or the stories we gradually began telling ourselves about who we are and what is possible for us. And some patterns that once protected or reassured us can eventually become obstacles.
The objective of this course is therefore not to tell you to simply "think positively." It is to help you examine your thinking more critically, recognize patterns that may be limiting you, understand why they persist, and develop a clearer sense of where greater personal responsibility and choice may be possible.
This can be particularly useful if you feel stuck in your career, struggle with procrastination, repeatedly abandon goals, experience persistent self-doubt, or simply want greater insight into the assumptions shaping your decisions.
Through videos and downloadable reflection resources, you'll be encouraged to apply the frameworks directly to your own beliefs, goals, habits, and circumstances.
