My Journey: From Confusion to Clarity
When I started my career as a Business Analyst, I was fresh out of my MBA and assigned to a Payments project. I had no prior experience in the domain and found myself constantly relying on senior colleagues, hesitating to ask questions I feared were “too basic,” and spending hours compiling scattered information from the internet.
The first few months were a nightmare. I felt underprepared, lacked confidence in client meetings, and struggled to contribute meaningfully. Over time, I learned and grew—but the journey was far from easy.
One of the toughest areas I encountered was Cross-Border Payments. The complexity of dealing with multiple countries, currencies, interbank networks, and SWIFT standards was overwhelming. Most resources jumped straight into technical message formats like MT103 and MT202, without laying the groundwork.
