Welcome! My name is Zulqarnain Hayat, and in this course, you will gain hands-on experience with Oracle Database 18C and Oracle Data Guard, both on-premises and on the Oracle Cloud. Designed for DBAs, IT professionals, and developers, this course provides practical knowledge for setting up, configuring, and managing Oracle 18C databases in real-world environments.
The course is divided into two major parts:
Part 1: Oracle 18C Lab Setup and On-Premises Data Guard
You’ll learn how to download software, configure virtual machines, install Oracle Linux 7, and set up Oracle 18C. You will configure listeners, create Container Databases (CDB) and Pluggable Databases (PDB), and perform database connections. The lab also guides you through Data Guard setup on-premises, including cloning nodes and configuring high availability environments.
Part 2: Oracle 18C on Cloud (DBaaS & OCI)
Explore Oracle Cloud by creating a free trial account and setting up Database as a Service (DBaaS). Learn to generate SSH key pairs, log in via SSH, create compartments, virtual cloud networks (VCNs), and database VMs. You’ll also configure Oracle Data Guard on cloud, performing tasks like switch-over, fail-over, and snapshot standby databases step by step.
By the end of this course, you’ll be confident in deploying, managing, and securing Oracle 18C databases on both on-premises and cloud environments, mastering Data Guard high availability solutions. This course is ideal for anyone looking to advance their career as an Oracle DBA or IT professional.
