Topics explore a wide set of areas of 5G wireless systems so that students can design applications using 5G equipment & services. First topics are principles of mobile systems, 5G systems (core/radios), application types in 5G, and related wireline / wireless methods. In depth study of 5G explores the major flows in the Core & Radio Access, the behavior of the radio’s physical layer and how applications are supported, features of 5G systems (Voice, SMS, Location, Network Slicing, Analytics), and 5G standards. 5G services and equipment covers elements to build solutions using 5G. 5G Advanced changes by 2025 are reviewed to consider new features in designs. Connectivity aspects of 5G teaches security, energy impact, use of Non-Terrestrial Networks. Finally the evolution to 6G is reviewed.
