Math is everywhere. In this class, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of algebraic principles, many of which you may have seen before, and learn how to use them to solve problems that we encounter in everyday life. The online version of College Algebra will cover all of the topics that you would see in more traditional class formats, but it will present the material in a way that we hope you’ll find fresh and interesting. You will learn about functions, polynomials, graphing, complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic equations, and much more, all through exploring real-world scenarios.

I took this course to fill some gaps of knowlegde I had my mathematical knowlegde. The good thing is that you can follow your own schedule and it became a bit of a hobby for me to finish this course as I love learning Maths and because this would be the first MOOC that I finished.

As with all Udacity courses there are a lot of questions and at times I felt that longer vidoes like in Khan Academy would have benefited the course. There were occasions when I did further research to clearly understand the content and to be honest getting an answer from peers was not always easy but the course Tutor was quite active in checking questions and I did get some great replies.

I learnt quite alot from this course and see it as a great steping stone for anyone who wants to get that essential basic Algebra knowledge to pursue higher Mathematical goals. I probably over 80 hours on this course as there are many questions to answer.

I only give it 4 out of 5 as sometimes the format of answers could really frustrate me. For exampe 2x(4+y) would be seen as being correct and (4+y)2x would not. On the plus side its great to have so many questions as this is the best way to remember what you learn.

If you are a maths beginer try out this course or Khan Academy. You will get an excellent grounding and experience.

First of all, let me preface this by saying I am a college graduate brushing up on his mathematics skills for the GRE, so my perspective might be skewed, but I found this course to be extremely annoying, not only is the course broken down into a million small 1 minuet videos, but they seemed to lag on the discussion in some areas and skim through parts that involved extensive discussion, I did not like the instructors presentation skills (Im not a child). Lastly, and this is the most important part, The best way to learn mathematics is by practicing, and the practice problems cannot be graded in a step by step manner such as with cymath, in fact, often times the grading for the learning modules would be incorrect. You get what you pay for.

Everything is fine until you get to the third section where you actually start doing some algebra and then the answer checking stops working. Multiple complaints in the forum and no response. Course is marked as deprecated so not a huge surprise.

I am about 1/3 of the way through the course and I am really enjoying it. It's a great way to fill in the gaps in my knowledge and to master questions that used to seem confusing - sure some of the content is easy, but you can always play the videos x2 speed and skip the explanations if you're in a hurry.

I guess the course is dropped by Udacity because the MathQuill bug is not solved in 5 months. Very disappointed! I guess I'll drop the class if I don't see my ticket resolved about this issue.
