This online course is designed to orient officers to the terminology and legal aspects/concepts concerning factors and situations where use of force may likely occur. Participants learn about the statutory authority for use of force, the terminology and concepts of use of force, force options and suitable alternatives, and the use and implications of deadly force. Legal issues and use of force decision making will be reinforced so that the officer can preserve his/her own life while not exceeding his/her legal authority. This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Intermediate Use of Force #2107.
