The course is designed for the PG students in Geotechnical Engineering as core subject and UG students and research scholars of Civil Engineering interested in advanced level of Geotechnical Engineering. The practicing engineers in the field of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering and academicians engaged in teaching professions in different engineering colleges may also benefit from this course. The objective of the course is to understand the fundamentals of behavior of soils. For this purpose, continuum mechanics, soil compressibility and consolidation theories of soils, strength behavior of soils under different loading and drainage conditions in light of classical soil mechanics and critical state soil mechanics will be discussed. Also the elastic and plastic deformation, concept of soil hardening, yield surface, associated and non-associated flow rule will be presented and discussed during this course.
INTENDED AUDIENCE: UG, PG and PhD level students and practicing engineers in the field of Geotechnical Engineering
PREREQUISITES: No pre-requisites for PG students and PhD students. Geotechnical Engineering-I/Soil Mechanics (UG) is the pre-requisites for UG students,
INDUSTRY SUPPORT: All Industries related to Civil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
