The course “Renewable Energy Sources: Fundamentals and Technologies” provides a concise yet comprehensive introduction to renewable energy systems and their scientific basis. Aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate learners, this course covers global and Indian energy scenarios, the need for decarbonization, and the growing role of renewables. Core modules explore solar PV, solar thermal technologies, thermochemical and biochemical biomass conversion, wind energy, and hydropower, emphasizing resource assessment, design principles, performance analysis, and techno-economic aspects. An overview of emerging renewable options, including geothermal, tidal, and wave energy systems, is also covered. Learners gain practical understanding through simplified models, examples, and case insights.
