Rapid changes in education and technology are posing another challenge to already stressed classrooms worldwide. In this course, we explore what the theories of motivation say about student engagement, and we devise strategies based on these theories to help teachers modify their teaching practices to attract and sustain students’ interest in learning activities.

Syllabus

  • Week 1: The course looks at classroom engagement from the perspective of motivation theories. Then, drawing the key learnings from these theories, six strategies are listed. There are also two sample activities that incorporate these six strategies to boost student engagement.
