This course is designed to benefit teachers, educators or anyone working with young children in their foundational years, helping them develop Oral Language Competencies.

The focus of this course is to empower the learner with the knowledge and resources to design multisensory learning experiences for young children through enjoyable learning activities that help in building the necessary foundational learning competencies. This course is aligned with the relevant Curricular Goals, Competencies and Learning Outcomes appropriate for children’s age group as outlined in the National Curriculum Framework(NCF) for the Foundational Stage (2020).

Syllabus

Week 1: This course is organised into five units covering the following titles and learning topics.
Week 2: Rhymes - Listening, repeating and singing along simple rhymes to extend and create new rhymes.
Week 3: Conversations - Listening attentively and speaking in short sentences, expressing feelings, narrating experiences, initiating and participating in engaging conversations.
Week 4: Oral Instructions - Learning to follow instructions, navigate simple to complex tasks, guide others, and confidently work independently and in groups.
Week 5: Stories - Listening and comprehending stories, identifying characters, storyline, interpreting what the author wants to say and narrating short stories with a clear plot and characters
Week 6: Oral Vocabulary- Building oral vocabulary on different topics and parts of speech, helping children carry out day-to-day interactions effectively, and guessing the meaning of new words by using existing vocabulary.
