ABOUT THE COURSE:
This course will cover the basic set of tools required to understand the modelling and analysis of communications systems in Hinglish i.e. colloquial Hindi written in Roman text. We will start the course with an introduction to Information Theory talking about source coding and introducing the idea of channel capacity. We will then follow this up with an introduction to the idea of signal spaces and digital modulation schemes. After a detailed discussion on various modulation schemes with and without memory, we will discuss the problem of optimum receiver design in the presence of AWGN, and evaluate the union bound on the probability of error. Finally, we will discuss the problem of digital transmission through bandlimited channels, and ISI. We will end with an introduction to multicarrier modulation and OFDM.
