Overview

This course is intended to introduce concepts and problem solving related to equations and vectors in space.

Synopsis:

The micro-credential course for The Geometry of Space & Vector-Valued Functions provides two units as follows:

Unit 1: Vectors & The Geometry of Space

Unit 2: Vector-Valued Functions and Motions in Space

For each unit, specific goals and objectives are provided, along with quizzes and activities whereby learners could use to gauge their level of understanding in each related topic. Examples will be given; intended to help learners to understand the concepts better.

The implementation and use of this course is immensely looked forward to expand learners exploration into the application of mathematical concepts into engineering problems such as area, volume, velocity, acceleration, curvature, torsion etc.

Syllabus

  • identify equations of lines, planes and curve on plane,
  • perform calculation on vectors,
  • perform calculation involving lines and planes,
  • identify cylinders and quadric surfaces,
  • differentiate vector functions,
  • integrate vector functions,
  • find the motion related vector functions, and
  • calculate the motion related coefficients.
