This introductory course examines the causes and consequences of climate change, climate misinformation, power dynamics, and responses by governments, organizations, industries, communities, and individuals. Learners identify practical mitigation pathways and take informed actions to reduce carbon footprints.

Syllabus

Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of climate change on sustainability.
Develop skills, knowledge, and experience to determine pathways to a carbon-free world.
Take appropriate individual actions to reduce carbon footprints.
Engage in conversations that promote CO2-reduction initiatives.
Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of climate change on sustainability.
Identify the fundamental causes of climate change, including both human activities and natural processes, by recognising scientific principles such as atmospheric science and carbon cycles.
Recognise the global and local consequences of climate change on ecosystems, economies, and human health, and its diverse and far-reaching impacts.
Understand the spread of climate misinformation and its influence on public perception and policy, and how power dynamics shape the discourse on climate change.
Identify governmental, organisational, and industry responses to climate change, including international agreements, policies, and sustainable practices aimed at reducing environmental impacts.
Identify and reflect on practical solutions at the community, individual, and household levels to mitigate climate change, while taking informed actions to reduce carbon footprints.
