The new syllabus that begins for Year 11 in 2018, and for Year 12 in 2019, contains a minimum of 15 hours each year set aside for a depth study, which must be assessed as part of each student's school-based assessment.
The main challenges for schools when designing a depth study are:
- How to ensure the time is spent productively
- How to ensure the depth study is assessedfairly according tounderstandingof physics skills and content.
The Physics department at UNSW aims to help schools address these issues.
