This micro-credential is open to translators, sign language interpreters, and anyone involved in supporting communication in healthcare settings. Whether you are experienced or new to medical interpreting, this course will help you build the confidence and knowledge needed for accurate and ethical interpretation.

Syllabus

  • Identify the most clinically relevant anatomical structures in the human body
  • Describe the most clinically relevant physiological processes in the human body
  • Discuss the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of the most common illnesses in medicine, surgery, and other specialties
  • Take the essential history from a patient and explain it competently to the healthcare workers (HCW)
  • Explain the HCW’s advice to the patient without loss of fidelity
  • Apply the principles of ethics in all interactions in the healthcare setting
