Dr Garth Lean
Dr Garth Lean is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Western Sydney University. Garth co-leads the Travel in the Digital Age (TinDA) research team, and is the team leader for the university's Tourism, Hospitality and Events program.Garth has co-led on several projects and contributed to the development of a number of research publications which evaluated social networking and dating apps, travel apps, car parking apps, and domestic violence apps, including many that were linked to industry partners.
Dr Lean designed the subject Tourism, Events and Technology (TOUR3001). As part of this subject, students learn to develop an app proposal that can be used within the tourism, events or visitor economy sectors.
Dr Donna James
Dr Donna James is a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Western Sydney University. Donna has extensive experience in evaluating apps including social networking and dating apps, car parking apps, and domestic violence apps, and has contributed to a number of research publications on this topic. Her research on this topic predominantly focuses on how apps mediate and reproduce social behaviours and practices, and how safety and equity can be improved through strategic app design.
Dr James coordinates the subject Tourism, Events and Technology (TOUR3001). As part of this subject, students learn to develop an app proposal that can be used within the tourism, events or visitor economy sectors.
