This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the foundational concepts of human anatomy and physiology, tailored for students entering the medical and health sciences, with a particular focus on the requirements of Semester 1 of the IMU MBBS program. You will explore anatomical terminology, structural organisation of the human body, and the classification of tissues, muscles, bones, and cartilage.
In addition, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the structure, function, and regulation of major physiological systems, including the nervous, circulatory, respiratory, and muscular systems. Emphasis is placed on the physiological mechanisms underlying neural communication, blood circulation, respiration, and muscle contraction, as well as their critical roles in maintaining homeostasis. The course also introduces basic communication skills essential for year 1 medical students.
