Syllabus

To describe the terms, principles and concepts of pharmacokinetics
To discuss the factors affecting absorption, metabolism, distribution and excretion of drugs
To define and explain prescription medicine, over the counter (OTC) medicine, topical medicine, natural products and herbal/botanical medicine
To recognise Ministry of Health (MOH) registered products
To distinguish the various intrinsic and extrinsic factors contributing to herbal medicine toxicity
To describe the various classifications of drug interactions
To explain the differences among the mechanisms of drug interactions
To describe the principles of drug-herb interactions
To discuss the common interactions between herbal/botanical medicine and drugs used in the treatment of common diseases
To discuss the current challenges of drug-herb interactions data
To retrieve and apply drug-herb interaction information from public database
