Understand concepts that cover language and communication comprising grammar components such as lexicon, morphology, syntax, glossing linguistic data, and grammar rules.
Understand the distinction between content words and function words, the classification of morphemes, the categorization of affixes, roots, stems, clitics, and the differentiation between affixes.
Understand different types of phrases, the main elements and structure of phrases, the relationship between subjects and predicates, the distinction between independent and subordinate clauses, and the basic definition of a sentence
