This course is designed for healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers who want to strengthen their skills in evidence-based decision-making and pharmacoeconomics.

You can start anytime at your convenience.

It will take approximately 4–6 weeks, with at least 2 hours per week to complete the course.

Module 2: Study Designs and Their Appraisal

How do RCTs, cohort studies, and systematic reviews differ—and how do we evaluate them?

Module 3: Appraisal Tools and Checklists

How to use CASP, CHEERS, PRISMA, and GRADE to assess research quality?

Module 4: Interpreting and Applying Evidence

How to translate evidence into policy and practice for better health outcomes?

Module 5: Real-World Interpreting and Applying Evidence Translate evidence into actionable policies and tackle real-world challenges in scaling interventions through case studies.

Syllabus

  • Demonstrate foundational understanding of critical appraisal and evidence-based healthcare, including the role of health economics in healthcare decision-making.
  • Differentiate and critically evaluate various types of healthcare research designs, such as randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, and systematic reviews.
  • Identify, interpret, and assess key sources of bias, confounding, and methodological limitations in clinical and economic evaluations.
  • Apply standardized critical appraisal tools (e.g., CASP, PRISMA, CHEERS, GRADE) to assess the quality and relevance of research studies in real-world healthcare settings.
  • Translate research findings into practice by evaluating their applicability, clinical significance, policy implications, and ethical dimensions in health management.
