Overview

Most states in Australia require a minimum of 20 hours of relevant Professional Development (PD) per year, to maintain your teaching accreditation. Completion ofCode Club in the Classroom: Getting Startedcan contribute as 5 hours of Teacher Identified PD to help you address the following Australian Teaching Standards: Standard 2 - Know the content and how to teach it; Standard 3 - Plan and Implement for effective teaching and learning; Standard 6 - Engage in professional learning. As evidence of your PD, you can download a certificate on completion of the course.

Not a teacher? This course will give you an understanding of the importance of computational thinking and how it is used everywhere. This course will help you work through everyday tasks in your own life and provide strategies to help you think through problems.

Syllabus

  • Understand the importance of the Technologies curriculum and its underpinning key concepts
  • Access and use coding tutorials and other Code Club resources in your classroom
  • Set up your own Code Club in your classroom or as an afterschool activity
  • Create interactive stories and games using Scratch 3.0
  • Explore digital pedagogy for the classroom
  • Join a community of educators interested in coding
