Open Networked Learning (ONL) is an open, collaborative online course that explores the future of education in a digital age. Designed for teachers, instructional designers, and lifelong learners, ONL moves beyond traditional course formats to offer a "learning-by-doing" experience rooted in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and open exchange.

What You Will Learn The curriculum is divided into specific topics that guide participants through the essentials of modern digital pedagogy:
  • Online Participation & Digital Literacies: Understanding digital identity and engagement.
  • Open Learning: navigating openness, sharing culture, and Creative Commons licensing.
  • Collaborative Learning: Strategies for learning effectively in networked communities.
  • Design for Online & Blended Learning: Practical frameworks for creating engaging digital course environments.

How It Works ONL is not just a course but a community. Participants work in small, facilitated PBL groups to solve challenges, support one another, and reflect on their learning journey. The course utilizes a variety of digital tools and platforms, encouraging you to build your own Personal Learning Network (PLN) that lasts beyond the course duration.

Key Features
  • Cost: Free (Open to all).
  • Format: Fully online, collaborative, and iterative.
  • Certification: Certificates of completion are available.
  • Pedagogy: Focus on peer learning, reflective practice, and networking.

This was one of the most inspiring course I have followed. The cross disciplinary working teams gave me the opportunity to discover in details how professionals from other areas cope with functional issues in real time. It also inspired me about how to engage new forms of teaching, educational methods and practical matters using hybrid, synchronous or asynchronous ways of communication. I strongly recommend the course to them who are interested to become high quality educators!
