Do you need to better understand your community’s flood risk? Use this training to work through the process of mapping repetitive flood losses and other relevant local data using GIS.

This training is recommended for floodplain managers with little to no experience using GIS. To access and complete this training, you will need to

  • Have a paid subscription to ArcGIS Pro, or sign up for a free trial
  • Install the ArcGIS Pro software on your computer
  • Register for a free account with the Association of State Floodplain Managers

You will be asked to create a free account with the association’s Education Center the first time you access the training.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the fundamentals of using GIS in the context of floodplain management
  • Navigate the GIS environment in ArcGIS Pro
  • Map repetitive loss areas for Community Rating System credit
  • Identify the questions that GIS data can help answer related to reducing repetitive flood loss
