  • Ability to analyze echocardiography images such as parasternal, subcostal, suprasternal and apical views
  • Attain hands-on experience to analyze real clinical cases from a database of 50 anonymised clinical cases, using dedicated echocardiography software, as well as further supplementation through our web forum.

Syllabus

WEEK 1: Principles, History and Basics of Echocardiography

This MOOC will begin with courses on the common echocardiography modality, the history and quality assessment. We will also learn how to acquire echocardiography views and modalities.

WEEK 2: Echocardiography Function, Measurements and Techniques

In this section, we will teach you how to apply different modalities to assess ventricular dimension, systolic and diastolic function.

WEEK 3: Echo in Common Cardiac & Valvular Diseases

Echocardiography modalities such as stress echocardiography and TEE/TOE for assessing coronary and valvular heart diseases.

WEEK 4: Echo in Cardiomyopathies, Systemic Disease, Pericardial Disease & Masses

Echocardiography modalities for assessing cardiomyopathy, pericardial disease, aortopathy and cardiac masses will be covered in the section.

WEEK 5: Echo in Congenital Heart Disease, Acute and Chronic Clinical Scenarios

In the last section, we will cover the role of echocardiography in congenital heart diseases. You will also learn the application of echo in both acute and chronic clinical scenarios.

Clinical Cases:

You will also have hands-on experience to review clinical cases (e.g. TEE/TOE during ASD closure) with tutorial videos every week.
